Floating upon her back, eyes closed beneath the brightness of the sun, she is hardly aware that she is moving. Tender ripples encapsulate, insulate her, from the harshness of the cold world lurking just beyond her horizons. Her long fingers, splayed lazily beneath the surface of the water, beat out the rhythm of her hopes, her dreams, her loves. Caught in this eddy, she lingers in silence, beseeching the quiet universe for some destiny, some understanding, some reason, some direction. Her body spins slowly, imperceptibly. She breathes too shallowly. She breathes too much. She breathes too fast and her body becomes less buoyant. A voice rises from the fathoms below. Or, is it the fathoms above? She cannot really tell because all sound is muted by the pressure of the water against her ears. Still. Her eyes remain closed. "Ssssh...just breathe. Let your body flow with the gentle currents that surround you now. This is your journey. This is your life." Transitioning, swirling, life and breath fill her lungs, edifying and strengthening her.
It is just the beginning....
