Music&Love
Spent the day with Ashlin. Just doing what we do, how we do it, why we do it. We read books, ate mac n' cheese...(when don't we eat mac n' cheese?) She is invariably drawn to my guitars, asking me to play them...asking me questions. I keep adding information for her. The blue one is an Ibanez and the purple one is an Ovation. She sat on the floor to try and play the Ovation and all at once I said, "Let's go to the music store! Let's get you one!" So, we climbed into the Accent and meandered up the road to Mainely Music. (I had previously scoped the small child guitar scenario when I was in there replacing my capo) I pointed her in the direction of the Uke's...small, light, 4 nylon strings...she immediately gravitated to the green one. "Goigy, sit down. Goigy play guitar!" So I sat on the floor and played the blue one while she held her green one upside down and backwards. Perfect! The thing even came with a little nylon carrying bag which she lugged around the store for a while until she discovered drum sticks. "Goigy, I want a drum!" Of course she wants a drum! She was like a musician in a music store! She couldn't take it all in fast enough and a pre nap melt down began to sizzle. She got that crazed look in her eye that Shawn gets when he sees one of those fancy, fast cars he will one day be driving!
So, we managed to get out of there with her little guitar and wound our way back home. We sat on the floor and played. She discovered my purple picks and wanted her own capo, all the while asking me to tell her the names of it all. "Play guitar, Goigy!" And she would leap up to hang her new green axe on my Ovation's guitar stand. (No wonder the little GreenSavannah was wacked totally out of tune!) Somehow we mangage a nap and the first thing she said when she awoke, sleepy eyed and warm was, "I wanna play my 'tar, Goigy...."
I asked her if she wanted to take it home with her when she goes tomorrow and she said, "No. Leave it at Goigy's house."
